Since I only post trail reports and you actually post hiking-related news, I thought you might be interested in this article:

This is the part that freaks me out:


Police also found evidence that the pot farmers had been guarding their crop.

They recovered sleeping bags and found trash hung in trees to avoid attracting animals.

Sniper rifles with scopes and live ammunition also were discovered.

I know pot farmers sometimes booby trap the area around their plants. Last thing I want while on a hike is to stumble upon one of these.</description>
