It can be done, but prepare as if you were hiking the floor of the Grand Canyon -- cause you basically are. *Lots* of water, salty snacks, and rest breaks. I've heard it's also beautiful hiking the area in the fall. Water flow is a bit lighter, but there are trees in the canyon that have brilliant yellow foliage, which adds to the already rich color pallete down there. The water looks so blue and clear and the waterfall is spectacular.
