		<description>Yeah, GeekHiker - I&#039;m keeping my fingers crossed for a mild and moist winter (but hopefully not moist enough to cause mudslides).  Most of the closed area is my usual-ANF stomping ground, which I miss a lot - but you&#039;re right - on the plus side, at least we&#039;ll get to explore some lesser-traveled areas!</description>

		<description>I&#039;ve read about this kind of thing before.  I&#039;m hoping that, given the generally cooler pattern this year, we won&#039;t see a flare up of the Santa Anas anytime soon.  If the winter turns out to be an El Nino year as well, that would be icing on the cake.

From what I&#039;ve read from the ANF, they don&#039;t want to re-open the western part of teh forest until after the winter rains, then start stabilization at that point.  Looks like it&#039;s time for me to start exploring more of the section above Santa Clarita!</description>
