Starting soon, some roads in the Angeles National Forest will re-open to general traffic.
Big Tujunga Canyon Road, Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, and the Angeles Forest Highway are scheduled to re-open at 5AM on Monday, November 30th. Until now, the roads have been closed except for construction, National Forest employees, and residents due to damage from the Station Fire.
The roads may be closed again if we start getting wet weather, and many sections of the roads may still have delays due to construction by the Department of Public Works and CalTrans, so if you’re planning on heading through the National Forest when it might be raining, be sure to check the DPW Road Closures page before you leave.
While it will soon be possible to travel through the San Gabriels again, it is important to note that ALL TRAILS AND CAMPGROUNDS IN THE BURN AREA REMAIN CLOSED until further notice. You don’t want to cause any unnecessary damage to the landscape, and you certainly don’t want to get an expensive citation before the holiday shopping season, right?

Thanks for reporting on this in layman’s terms. I tried to get through the official ANF Forest Orders which apparently say what is open and what is not… These don’t seem to be written for general consumption though.
The Angeles National Forest web site is usually good about posting documents like that, but a lot of times they are completely incomprehensible to anyone outside of the Forest Service.
That DWP road closure page is a great resource to have – it’s easy to understand and looks like it’s updated regularly. I’ll be adding it to my FAQ page!
The Mount Wilson Toll Road is open up to Henninger Flats. The gate is on Pinecrest Avenue and the Restrooms at Henninger are reopened. This means that mountain bikers have legal access to the trail again. I’ve put some more details and pictures on my blog http://mtwilsontollroad.swcamborne.com/ The Station Fire didn’t get far enough south to effect this trail.
