If you’ve heard me rattling on and on about how you should give snowshoeing a shot, and were wondering what all the fuss was about, you need look no further than this incredible set of photos taken by Keegan Uhl in Icehouse Canyon last week.
Looking through that gallery, you will instantly want to run to the nearest store to buy snowshoes and tire chains. Lucky it’s Friday!

Now I’m even more excited to be heading to Big Bear this evening! I think we are going to tackle the Pine Knot Trail on Saturday.
You’ll love it! Just bring a good map so you don’t get lost in all those backcountry fire roads!
Arrgh! Why did I have to break a toe now? I can still go, but I’ll hurt like heck. *sigh*
BTW, MH, do you snowshoe as well?
I do, just not that often. I still have to spring for a pair of shoes of my own, and some tire chains. This is the first year in a while snowshoeing has been a reasonable possibility for LA hikers!
Wow, very inspiring.
So beautiful! The trail is calling.
February’s gonna be busy, but if there’s still snow and you wanna go in March, lemme know. Heck, I don’t have a 4wd truck with m&s tires (and chains, just-in-case) for ‘nothin!
I went snowshoeing once during a full moon on lake Champlain in VT once, it was a blast, I can’t believe this is so close to LA!
OK, I just went through those pix, absolutely amazing!! No I feel like a schlub for not getting out at all!
