The fire danger level in the Angeles National Forest has been raised to Very High today, the fourth in a six-level graduated system. The level is being elevated to raise awareness and preparedness for the hot and dry conditions in the forest right now before Labor Day Weekend, when the chances of a human-caused fire increase quite a bit.

There are no new fire restrictions associated with this new fire level – open wood and charcoal fires will still be permitted in approved developed campgrounds and picnic areas. Gas and propane-powered stoves and grills are permitted in non-developed areas with a state Campfire Permit. Additional areas of the forest may be closed if necessary.

Stay safe out there this weekend!
